What is it like to bike on Bainbridge Island?
Bainbridge is a wonderful place to ride a bike and it is the best way to explore the island! Visit local parks and nature preserves, pedal along the beautiful coastline with stunning views, visit local wineries, beaches, and take in the beautiful scenery. Almost everywhere you ride on Bainbridge you will encounter a hill, so you will need to be able to ride a multi-speed bike. Electric bikes are a great choice to help you tackle the hills. There are a few bicycle paths on the island, but you will mostly be riding on the shoulder of the road so need to be comfortable riding near cars. Speed limits are low on the island, and most of our suggested routes will take you on backroads with limited cars. Bainbridge Island has a large community of cyclists, so drivers tend to be very considerate of bikers.
What will I need on the day of my rental?
We advise you to bring:
* Water - Plenty of it especially in the summer months. Our bikes are equipped with bottle cages where possible.
* Appropriate footwear - Avoid wearing open toed footwear.
* Helmets are required on Bainbridge Island, so these are provided to you at no additional cost. You are very welcome to bring your own.
Can I just show up on the day to rent?
Yes. We will do our best to get you out on a bike if you just turn up. However, during the summer we recommend booking ahead of time, especially if you are wanting to rent E-bikes.
Do you deliver?
We do deliver bikes upon request for anyone staying on Bainbridge Island and renting bikes for multiple days. We charge a $30 flat rate delivery fee. Send us an email or call to coordinate a delivery.
Can I ride the bike or electric bike anywhere?
Our regular hybrid bikes as well as the electric bikes are designed to be ridden on pavement. They are not designed for off-road trails, or to be ridden on the beach. Neither our regular bikes or e-bikes should be ridden through the unpaved trails of the parks. Our bikes should also stay on Bainbridge with some limited exceptions, let us know if you have a specific request to take one of our bikes off the island.
How fast do the electric bikes go and what’s the range?
Rad Power e-bikes are Class 2 and have a top speed of 20 mph. Generally the battery gives the bikes an expected range between 20 - 40 miles. This will also depend on the level of pedal assist used, terrain, and size and weight of the rider.
Are there any age limits for renting?
All electric bike riders must be at least 16 years old. There is no age limit to ride the regular hybrid bikes. Any rider under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.
We do not have an age limit restriction for seniors but we want everyone to have a good experience riding, so we want to stress caution especially when renting an electric bike. Electric bikes are much heavier than regular bikes, in the range of 60 -70 lbs, so a good amount of strength and balance are required to ride. We reserve the right to cancel a rental (with a full refund) over any safety concerns.
What is your cancellation and refund policy?
